ARE YOU INTERESTED IN BECOMING AN IIN HEALTH COACH?

That makes me so happy to hear! It was truly one of the best experiences I’ve had and something I genuinely loved and believe changed my life. I love that I have the knowledge to create more health and wellness in my life and I get to share that information with others and positively impact people's lives in the process. As an alumni of The Institute of Integrative Nutrition, I have the ability to give others who are interested in the program a discount off of their tuition. I also decided because I’m so passionate about this program and want others to have this same experience, if you sign up for IIN with my name, I would love to mentor you throughout the program. This mentorship will be a chance for us to catch up every 3-4 weeks to chat about the program, talk about any questions that are coming up for you, talk health and wellness, go over tips to grow your social media, and just a time to connect! All you have to do is mention my name when you sign up and send me an email at hello@ashleycarlsonco.com and we can set up a time to chat.

 MORE ABOUT MY IIN EXPERIENCE…

As you may already know, I received a bachelor's degree in Nutrition from Arizona State University and then went on to become a certified Health Coach through The Institute for Integrative Nutrition. After both experiences, I can honestly say it was IIN that changed my whole perspective on health and wellness.

You know that feeling when you just KNOW something is right for you? You feel it in your gut and it speaks to you? This is how I felt when I found IIN. I felt like I was missing something after graduating with my degree in Nutrition and was looking for a program that would allow me to deepen my knowledge of health and wellness even further. As soon as I started reading about IIN’s curriculum, I knew it was right for me. I immediately called the admissions office and signed up within 10 minutes of that phone call. I just intuitively knew and it was the best feeling. I’m usually someone who has to take a few days to process things and make a decision, but this was different and the program felt like it was made for me. I’ve never regretted the decision of studying through IIN and know that it was truly meant to be.

During the program, I was introduced to new concepts I had never heard before, new ways of eating, and a new way of viewing health and wellness. I developed new ways of thinking and a whole new approach to living a healthy lifestyle. I was immediately inspired by what I was learning and was always eager to start each module. IIN teaches you that there is SO much more to living a healthy lifestyle than just eating healthy foods and moving your body (although these are both very important too!). This program takes a look at your stress levels, your relationships (with others and with yourself), your spirituality or religious practices, your career, your money mindset and so much more. It teaches you that to be in true health and wellness, you need to address the mind, body, and spirit. I will forever be so grateful to IIN for their training program and truly believe it is one of the best investments I have ever made.

A few words that come to mind when I think of my experience with IIN:

  • Fun

  • Inspiring

  • Eye-opening

  • Expansive

  • Exciting

  • Impactful

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT IIN'S HEALTH COACH TRAINING PROGRAM…

IIN is the world’s largest Nutrition school. During your training, you get to learn from top experts and PhD’s in the Nutrition/wellness field such as Dr. Mark HymanDeepak Chopra, Gabrielle BernsteinDr. Andrew Weil, and so many others. The IIN Curriculum teaches you over 150 different dietary theories, techniques, concepts, and ideas all while combining business training so that you can start taking clients while you’re still in school. You have the option of going through the 6 or 12-month program to become a Health Coach. You will learn the same curriculum in either of the programs, the shorter duration option will just require you take more time focusing on the program each week. If you are planning on working full-time I recommend the year-long program, but if you have more flexibility then the 6 month program could be a good option for you. The curriculum is set up so that you can “go at your own pace” with a few exams throughout the year to make sure that you are engaging in the curriculum and retaining the information. It’s an incredible opportunity to gain knowledge and then be able to share that knowledge with others who need your help. If you’re interested in seeing what IIN is all about, you can take a sample class and look at the curriculum below to learn more.

Some of my favorite things about studying at IIN:

  • Learning about a holistic approach to Healthy Lifestyles; mind, body, and soul.

  • Connecting with likeminded individuals going through the program at the same time.

  • Learning from top experts in the health and wellness field

  • A “go at your own pace” curriculum that allows you to work full-time

  • The ability to start taking clients halfway through the online program

  • The option of easy, interest-free payment plans

  • The information and knowledge to positively impact and make a difference in people's lives

  • Different learning styles in the form of reading, watching and listening to lectures

  • Engaging and thought provoking information on the topic of health and wellness

  • Learning the business side of health coaching and the different career paths one can take as a holistic health coach

  • Lectures focused on personal finances (remember, a healthy relationship with money is part of overall health and wellness too!)

Some of the personal changes I noticed after taking IIN's certification program:

  • Creating a balanced relationship with food

  • Understanding the root causes of my stress and how to effectively deal with it

  • Tuning into what my body needed whether that was in the form of food, physical activity, meditation, relaxation, fun, etc.

  • Trusting myself to be an advocate for my own health and to listen to my intuition on what was best for my body

  • Making healthy lifestyle changes that create a ripple effect on other areas of my life and made me a happier, more fulfilled person

  • Taking more time to honor self-care and realize that I need to prioritize taking good care of myself in order to take care of others

A lot of people who are interested in becoming a Health Coach wonder what they are able to do as a career when they finish their certification. There is no “one size fits all” answer for this, but I did find this article to be helpful in explaining a few different career paths you can take after graduation. I also really loved reading this post to give a different perspective on how many paths there truly are in the realm of health coaching.

SOME FAQ I GET FROM WOMEN ABOUT IIN…

Q: How much is the tuition for IIN?

A: IIN doesn’t allow the cost of their tuition to be published on personal websites, so the best course of action is to call them at (877) 730-5444 to talk to the admissions office. Everyone in the admissions office have been certified through IIN and they are a wealth of knowledge and so helpful in getting all of your questions answered. IIN typically has specials going on and as I mentioned above, you get a discount off the program simply by mentioning my name during signup.

Q: How much time do you need to dedicate to the course material each week?

A: If you are reading all the recommended material and watching all the lectures, it takes about 5-7 hours weekly. That’s about an hour or less a day and completely do-able. I worked full-time for the entirety of the program and never felt stressed out or overwhelmed. I also think this is because I truly enjoyed what I was learning and was so eager to expand my knowledge in health and wellness.

Q: What kind of job can I get as a Health Coach?

A: This is a tough question to answer because there isn’t just one career path you can take! You can become a health coach and either work for yourself or out of a health practitioner’s office (like a doctor or chiropractor) or you can work out of a gym/wellness center. Or you could think out of the box and do something completely different. I have met IIN graduates who have become chefs or recipe developers, juice bar owners, non-toxic candle makers, health bloggers, wellness retreat hosts, yoga studio owners, and the list goes on. You shouldn’t limit yourself and think that there is only one option for you after you graduate as a health coach. This article is a really great one if you want a list of 50 career ideas after you graduate as a health coach.

Q: What does a Health Coach make?

A: I view this question similarly to the one above. This is completely up to you! I know that most people want a ballpark figure, but it depends on what you end up doing after you graduate. You will also find that there are many more ways to make money than charging for your services as a health coach. You can create group programs, courses, wellness retreats, become an affiliate for companies that you believe in, and even do things like paid sponsored posts on social media.

Q: How do I get clients as a Health Coach?

A: There are more than a few ways to go about getting clients once you’re a coach and there is no one way to do it. Here are a few ways you can get your initial client base; You can work for a health practitioner who will send client referrals your way or you can reach out to local yoga studios, juice bars, fitness centers, etc and either be a health coach at their location or hold health/wellness workshops to gain clients. Word of mouth is huge in service-based businesses so once you start getting a few clients, it typically grows from there. I also think that one of the best ways to get clients is practicing what you preach. Walk the walk and people will gravitate towards you and ask what you are doing because you look so healthy and vibrant. I’m not into “selling” at all. It feels disingenuous to me and I never want to feel like I’m pushing my services on people. Show up, talk about health and wellness like you would to a friend, and people will start asking questions and become intrigued with what you are doing.

If you still have some lingering questions about becoming an IIN Health coach after reading this, please feel free to shoot me a question at hello@ashleycarlsonco.com and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

Sending you so much love.
